About Protect Our Lake Shore Peninsula

Protect our Lake Shore Peninsula is a group of local residents in the Lake Shore / Pasadena area dedicated to preserving the community culture, remaining ecosystem, and safety of the residents who inhabit the approximately 8-mile peninsula adjacent to the Chesapeake Bay.

A prominent location in the area is the Pasadena Golf Center, located at the intersection of Route 100 and Mountain Rd. As part of Anne Arundel County’s Plan 2040, the Pasadena Golf Center is up for rezoning to a high-density residential area, meaning upwards of 700 affordable multi-unit housing complexes could be built if rezoning is approved.

At present, the main Commercial area for Lake Shore consists of the land between Mountain Road and Rt 100 from Magothy Bridge Road to the Rt 100/Mountain Road interchange.

The property where the Pasadena Golf Center is located has long been viewed as the point where dense commercial zoning ends and low-density residential begins.

The property is and has been for 20+ years split zoned with a small portion of C-2 in the front and the majority of the 31 acres zoned RLD (1 house per 5 acres).

A zoning change to R-10 would significantly impact the rural low-density character of the Lake Shore Peninsula and is the reason why -- for the last 20 years -- elected officials and county zoning officials have consistently sought to keep the zoning unchanged and stopping spray from further destroying the Lake Shore Peninsula.
